In a swift turn of events, the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (Bajus) has once again raised the price of gold, marking the fourth hike within a span of 21 days.
Following a reduction just a day prior, gold prices surged by Tk630 per bhori on Sunday, bringing the total increase for the month of April to Tk5,190 per bhori.
This latest adjustment comes amidst a wave of fluctuations, with Bajus implementing price changes on April 6, 8, 18, and 21, showcasing the unprecedented volatility in the gold market.
The price surge propelled 22-carat gold to a new high of Tk1,19,428 per bhori, a record level for the precious metal in Bangladesh. Masudur Rahman, Chairman of Bajus’s Price Determination and Price Monitoring Standing Committee, issued a notice confirming the latest price adjustment.
Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold now stands at Tk1,19,428 per bhori, while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk1,14,003 per bhori. Similarly, 18-carat gold is set at Tk97,709 per bhori, with traditional gold priced at Tk78,662.
In contrast, silver prices remain unchanged, reflecting a stable trend amidst the fluctuating gold market. Presently, 22-carat silver is valued at Tk2,100, 21-carat at Tk2,006, 18-carat at Tk1,715, and traditional silver at Tk1,283, maintaining consistency despite the gold price hikes.
