Dhaka University (DU) and Jagannath University (JnU) have taken swift action in response to the relentless heatwave gripping Bangladesh, opting to suspend physical classes and examinations and transition to online learning platforms.
In light of the severe heatwave persisting across the nation, DU administration announced the shift to online classes until further notice. A notification issued by the university’s registrar emphasized the importance of safeguarding student health amidst the extreme weather conditions.
Similarly, JnU administration convened a special meeting to address the challenges posed by the scorching temperatures. Acting Registrar Prof Dr Ainul Islam announced the suspension of all physical classes and examinations for the upcoming week, with a commitment to continue online instruction.
Prof Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, JnU’s Proctor, highlighted the vice-chancellor’s dedication to prioritizing student welfare, stating that decisions will be made based on the evolving situation to ensure the best outcomes for students.
As the heatwave persists, both universities are prioritizing the safety and well-being of their students by transitioning to online learning platforms until conditions improve.
