Tragedy struck in Meherpur’s Gangni upazila on Sunday morning as a 45-year-old housewife, Shilpi Khatun, reportedly fell victim to a severe heatwave gripping Bangladesh in recent days.
Shilpi Khatun, wife of Abu Taher from Ruyerkandi village, succumbed to heat stroke while working in her house yard despite being in good health, according to her son, Rawnak Hossain.
The scorching temperatures, reaching as high as 42.3°C in the district, have been relentless, causing distress across all segments of society.
This unfortunate incident marks the third heat-related death in just two days in the country, following similar fatalities reported in Chuadanga and Pabna districts on Saturday.
As Bangladesh grapples with the intense heatwave, authorities are urging citizens to take necessary precautions to safeguard against heat-related illnesses.
