In response to the relentless heatwave gripping the nation, National University authorities have taken proactive measures, suspending classes across all colleges affiliated with the university. This decision, communicated via a press release issued on Saturday afternoon, aims to prioritize the well-being of students and faculty members amidst the scorching temperatures.
According to the press release, classes at National University-affiliated colleges will remain suspended until further notice, acknowledging the severity of the ongoing heatwave. The suspension will continue until conditions improve, ensuring the safety and comfort of all stakeholders.
However, the press release clarifies that all examinations under the university will proceed as scheduled, maintaining academic continuity despite the temporary closure of classes.
This decision follows earlier notifications declaring the closure of all schools and colleges until April 27, aligning with efforts to mitigate the impact of the heatwave on educational institutions.
Meanwhile, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), a severe heatwave persists over the Khulna division, along with Rajshahi, Pabna, and Tangail districts, with forecasts indicating its continuation for the next five days. The scorching conditions were exemplified by Jessore recording the highest temperature in the country at a sweltering 42.6°C, while Dhaka experienced a maximum temperature of 40.4°C.
Amidst these challenging weather conditions, National University’s decision to suspend classes underscores its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its academic community during this heatwave.
