The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued a warning of severe heatwave conditions persisting across Khulna division, along with Rajshahi, Pabna, and Tangail districts. The forecast indicates no respite from the scorching temperatures for the next five days, starting from 9 am on Saturday.
Chuadanga district recorded the country’s highest temperature at 41.3°C on Friday, marking the peak of the season’s heatwave. Similar conditions have prevailed over the past three days.
Meanwhile, Barisal division, along with the rest of Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions, and Chandpur and Moulvibazar districts, is experiencing mild to moderate heatwave conditions, likely to persist.
In other regions, isolated rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, may occur over Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chittagong divisions, with the possibility of hail in some areas. The weather is expected to remain predominantly dry elsewhere in the country, with occasional partly cloudy skies.
Both day and night temperatures are anticipated to rise marginally, leading to increased discomfort due to heightened moisture levels. Additionally, a trough of westerly low pressure is reported over West Bengal and adjoining areas, further contributing to the prevailing weather patterns.
