Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) has announced the appointment of Professor Mohammad Al Amin Siddik from the civil engineering department as the new Director of Students’ Welfare (DSW).
The appointment was confirmed via an office order notice signed by Buet registrar Prof MD Forkan Uddin.
This decision comes amid recent protests by Buet students advocating against student politics on campus, with demands for the resignation of the former DSW, Prof Mizanur Rahman from the EEE department, who held the position since July 2019.
