In a recent announcement, the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Vanaspati Manufacturers Association revealed that the price of soybean oil has surged by Tk10 per litre. Effective immediately, consumers can expect to purchase a litre of soybean oil at Tk173.
This development follows the expiration of a notification issued on February 7 regarding the import of raw materials for edible oil production, which lapsed on April 15. Consequently, refined palm oil and refined soybean oil will now be available in the market from April 16 onwards at their previous prices, without VAT exemption.
Starting from Tuesday, the price of a five-litre bottle of soybean oil will stand at Tk845. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
