Over the span of April 9 to April 13, encompassing the festive fervor of Eid-ul-Fitr and Bangla New Year, a staggering 46,553 vehicles traversed the Padma Bridge.
During this bustling period, toll booths stationed at the Mawa and Zajira terminals of the bridge amassed a formidable sum, totaling Tk14,60,52,700, as disclosed by the Bridges Division on Monday.
Comparatively, this Eid witnessed a decline in both vehicular traffic and toll collection compared to the previous year.
During the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities last year, a total of 1,63,778 vehicles journeyed across the bridge between April 20 and April 24, yielding a toll collection of Tk14,61,66,550.
This year, the vehicle count dipped by 17,225, accompanied by a slight decrease in toll revenue amounting to Tk1,13,850.
The inauguration of the Padma Bridge by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on June 25 last year marked a monumental milestone, with its official opening to traffic the following day.
