President Mohammed Shahabuddin has summoned the 2nd session of the 12th parliament, in accordance with Clause (1) of Article 72 of the Constitution. Parliament is scheduled to reconvene at 5pm on May 2, following a 58-day recess since the prorogation of its first session on March 5.
The first session, which commenced on January 30, concluded after 22 working days. Per constitutional provisions, a period exceeding 60 days is not to intervene between the end of one session and the first sitting of Parliament in the next session.
