Legendary cricketer Sir Viv Richards is slated to visit Dhaka in the near future, as disclosed by Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Minister, Chet Greene, presently on a diplomatic mission in Bangladesh.
Following a meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Hasan Mahmud, at the state guesthouse Padma on Sunday, Greene conveyed the exciting news to the media.
Greene revealed that Sir Viv Richards’s visit coincides with the establishment of Antigua’s consulate in Dhaka later this year, aiming to facilitate Bangladeshi citizens interested in visiting or investing in Antigua, while also easing the process for Antiguans seeking similar opportunities in Bangladesh.
Expressing his government’s eagerness to bolster ties with Asia, Greene emphasized Bangladesh’s pivotal role in initiating this relationship, citing it as the ideal starting point.
Furthermore, Antigua aims to enhance collaboration with Bangladesh in the tourism sector, offering opportunities for Bangladeshi students to pursue tourism studies at the University of West Indies through scholarships provided by Antigua.
In a bid to foster easier travel between the two nations, Greene disclosed Antigua’s proposal for a visa-free arrangement, enabling hassle-free on-arrival visa facilities for citizens of both countries.
