In a remarkable endeavor to celebrate Pohela Boishakh, a 14-km stretch of road in the picturesque Haor region of Kishoreganj is being adorned with vibrant Alpona patterns, with aspirations of setting a world record.
Dubbed “Boishakh 1431 in Alpona,” this initiative seeks to showcase the rich Bengali tradition of intricately painting patterns and motifs.
Over 700 dedicated volunteers commenced the Alpona painting extravaganza on Friday, marking the beginning of this grand artistic feat. Former cultural affairs minister and current lawmaker Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the initiative as the chief guest at Mithamoin Zero Point.
The program is a collaborative effort by Asiatic Experiential Marketing Limited, Banglalink Digital Communications Limited, and Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited.
The culmination of this awe-inspiring street painting endeavor is scheduled for Sunday, coinciding with the nation’s joyous celebration of Bangla New Year. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will grace the event as the chief guest in Mithamoin.
Organizers express that this ambitious undertaking serves as a poignant representation of Bengali culture, aimed at captivating the attention of the global audience.
