Following recent activities by the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), a tourist ban has been enforced in Bandarban’s Ruma upazila. Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Didarul Alam issued a notification on April 9, prohibiting tourists from visiting or booking accommodations in the area until joint law enforcement operations conclude.
Under the directive, access to tourist spots via jeep or waterways is restricted. This decision aligns with the core committee’s efforts to maintain district law and order, as stated by Md Didarul Alam.
Earlier incidents involved KNF members attacking banks in Thanchi upazila, looting significant amounts of money and weaponry, and even abducting individuals. In response, law enforcement has filed nine cases and apprehended 58 suspects, including 20 women, who have been remanded to custody pending court proceedings.
