Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, amidst Eid-ul-Fitr festivities at Ganabhaban, reiterated Awami League’s unwavering commitment to Bangladesh’s welfare.
She exchanged warm Eid greetings with a diverse spectrum of citizens, including party members, judges, diplomats, and workers.
In her address, Sheikh Hasina expressed gratitude to Awami League members, civil, and military officials for foregoing traditional iftar parties to distribute food among the underprivileged.
“Your adherence to distributing iftar among the needy is truly commendable,” she acknowledged, criticizing those who flaunted attendance at multiple iftar gatherings.
Highlighting Awami League’s service-oriented approach, she emphasized, “We come to power to serve, not to take.”
The prime minister praised Awami League and affiliates for their efforts in making Eid celebrations inclusive and joyful, extending thanks to all who contributed to citizens’ happiness.
She also acknowledged law enforcement’s efficient role in ensuring smooth festivities and affirmed her government’s commitment to inclusivity by extending Eid wishes to members of other religions.
Reflecting on the nation’s founding principles, she reiterated the aim to eradicate poverty and ensure basic necessities for all, echoing the ideals of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation.
Looking ahead, Sheikh Hasina expressed optimism for Bangladesh’s peaceful and prosperous future.
The Eid greetings session commenced at 10 am, welcoming the general public, high-profile officials, and international diplomats. Sheikh Rehana and Obaidul Quader were also present.
