On Wednesday afternoon, a devastating fire erupted at a garment waste warehouse located in the Baipail area of Ashulia, resulting in the destruction of the entire tin-shed structure.
Although no casualties were reported, the inferno inflicted extensive damage to everything housed within the warehouse premises.
Pranab Chowdhury, the station officer of the Fire Service’s DEPZ division, disclosed that upon receiving notification of the fire around 2 pm, five fire units were dispatched to the scene. Within a remarkably swift response time, four units successfully extinguished the flames within a span of just 30 minutes.
Chowdhury emphasized that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the financial losses incurred as a result of the incident.
Local sources have identified the warehouse as being operated by six individuals, namely Saddam, Mintu, and Helal, among others.
Following the incident, officials from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Ashulia Police Station, and Industrial Police swiftly mobilized to the site to assess the situation and initiate necessary measures.
