Brac’s Skills Development Program (SDP) and the Department of Youth Development (DYD), operating under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, have inked a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing youth empowerment endeavors in Bangladesh.
Formalized on Sunday, the MoU signifies a significant stride towards tackling youth challenges and fostering pathways for socio-economic progress. Dr. Gazi Md Saifuzzaman, Director General (Additional Charge) of DYD, and Safi Rahman Khan, Director of Education at SDP, led the signing ceremony, underlining the commitment of both entities to uplift Bangladesh’s youth.
This collaborative venture will see Brac and DYD jointly encouraging unemployed youth to engage in inclusive skills training, employment, and entrepreneurial ventures. Moreover, the partnership will conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the demand for online training programs, tailoring curriculum and modules with a keen focus on women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
A key facet of the alliance is the promotion of climate-resilient agriculture training, along with facilitating international job placements for skilled workers and nurturing youth leadership and organizational skills.
DYD Director General Dr. Gazi Md Saifuzzaman stressed the importance of leveraging Brac’s grassroots reach to ensure widespread access to valuable opportunities for skills development and training.
Zafar Ahmed Khan, Senior Policy Advisor at Brac, emphasized the interconnection between education, skills development, and migration in empowering youth, highlighting the need for integration to equip them for global competitiveness.
Safi Rahman Khan, Director of Education at SDP and Migration, underscored the significance of vocational training and entrepreneurship in bolstering youth empowerment.
Tasmiah Tabassum Rahman, Associate Director at SDP, reiterated Brac’s commitment to fostering a robust partnership with the government, particularly with DYD, to expand the spectrum of soft skills and technical training opportunities available to young individuals.
The signing ceremony, attended by senior officials from DYD and Brac, marks a pivotal moment in the collaborative journey towards nurturing the potential of Bangladeshi youth.
