In anticipation of Eid-ul-Fitr, Chittagong is set to launch a special travel arrangement with the operation of four pairs of trains destined for various locations.
Saiful Islam, the Divisional Manager (East) of Chittagong, confirmed this development on Friday, marking a significant step in facilitating holiday travel.
Scheduled to operate from April 5 until the day preceding Eid, and then from the first to the fifth day after Eid, these special trains aim to streamline holiday commuting.
Notably, this marks the inaugural Eid-special train service on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar route, with stops at eight stations along the way, providing unprecedented convenience for travelers.
Saiful Islam elaborated, stating, “Two pairs of trains will serve the Chittagong to Chandpur route, one pair for Mymensingh, and another for Cox’s Bazar.”
To ensure smooth travel arrangements, advance ticket sales commenced on March 24 and will continue until March 30, catering to the surge in demand expected during the festive period.
The ticketing system operates in a phased manner, with sales for April 3 already initiated on March 24, while tickets for April 9 will be available for purchase on Saturday.
Likewise, return ticket sales will commence on April 3, spanning until April 9, facilitating travelers planning their return journey. Return tickets for April 13 will be issued on April 3, and for April 9 on April 9.
Noteworthy is the transition to a fully online ticketing system this year, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all travelers.
