Bangladesh witnessed no fresh dengue-related fatalities in the 24-hour period leading up to Saturday morning, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). However, the DGHS disclosed that 11 new patients were hospitalized with viral fever during this timeframe.
Of the newly hospitalized cases, nine were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, while the remaining two sought treatment outside the capital.
Presently, a total of 65 patients are undergoing treatment across various hospitals nationwide, indicating a continued vigilance against the dengue outbreak.
Since January 1, 2024, a cumulative total of 1,684 dengue cases have been documented, reflecting the persistent threat posed by the disease.
Last year marked a grim milestone with 1,705 reported dengue-related deaths, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS reported a staggering 321,179 dengue cases and recorded 318,749 recoveries during the same period.
Highlighting the severity of the outbreak, September emerged as the deadliest month in 2023, witnessing 396 fatalities and 79,598 reported cases, as per DGHS data.
