The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a directive stipulating that all Pohela Boishakh celebrations, including those held at Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, Dhaka University, Hatirjheel, and Rabindra Sarobar, must wrap up by 6 pm.
This decision emerged from a law and order meeting convened to discuss the Pahela Baishakh festivities at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.
Furthermore, stringent measures will be taken against individuals attempting to disseminate misinformation regarding the Bangla New Year celebrations via social media platforms like Facebook.
Additionally, to safeguard public safety, the use of fireworks and lanterns will remain prohibited during the upcoming Pohela Boishakh celebrations.
District administrations, alongside district police and event organizers, will coordinate security arrangements nationwide for the festivities. Special security protocols will be enforced at key locations such as Ramna Botomul, Suhrawardy Udyan, and Dhaka University.
The Bangla Academy will oversee security measures during the Pohela Boishakh fair, with a focus on both personal security arrangements and collaborative efforts with law enforcement agencies.
Furthermore, special security arrangements will be extended to diplomatic zones and establishments, while fire service teams and medical units will be strategically stationed in Dhaka and across the country during the celebrations.
Mobile courts and law enforcement units will be deployed to prevent any instances of harassment, vandalism, or pickpocketing during the festivities. Additionally, playing banned instruments like the vuvuzela horn will be strictly prohibited.
Moreover, efforts will be made to ensure high-quality food and cultural events in prisons nationwide, while measures will be taken to combat drug abuse during the Bangla New Year celebrations.
