In a significant move towards strengthening bilateral ties, Bangladesh and Bhutan have sealed three new memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Monday, aiming to deepen cooperation between the two nations.
The MoUs cover diverse areas including the Establishment of a Special Economic Zone in Kurigram, the establishment of a Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit in Thimphu, and Technical Cooperation on Consumer Rights.
Additionally, a renewal of the MoU on cultural exchange underscores the commitment to preserving and promoting cultural ties between the two countries.
The ceremonial signing of these agreements took place at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), witnessed by Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Upon his arrival, the Bhutanese monarch was warmly welcomed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, followed by a productive delegation-level meeting between the two leaders prior to the MoU signing ceremony.
Further discussions are slated to occur during a one-on-one meeting, reflecting the commitment of both nations to foster deeper collaboration across various sectors.
