In a bid to enhance Sri Lankan onion cultivation, the Ministry of Agriculture unveils a Tk 14 crore incentive program.
According to a press release from the ministry, this initiative aims to support 36,000 small and marginal farmers across 24 districts by providing them with free seeds and fertilizers.
Each farmer will receive 1 kg of seeds, along with 20 kgs each of DAP and MOP fertilizers per bigha of land for cultivation.
Funded through the Ministry of Agriculture’s regular budget for agricultural rehabilitation assistance and the seed and seedling sector, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will oversee the distribution of seeds and fertilizers.
The distribution process is expected to commence at the field level soon, facilitating the advancement of Sri Lankan onion production across the country.
