The price of gold in Bangladesh has soared to unprecedented levels, hitting Tk1.14 lakh per bhori, marking a significant increase of Tk2,916 for one bhori of 22 carat (11.664 grams) gold.
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (Bajus) has announced that this new price will come into effect starting Friday. This surge comes in response to the escalating prices of gold and silver in the local market, prompting Bajus to adjust their rates accordingly.
Following a slight reduction in gold prices on March 20, the prices have now reached a new pinnacle with this recent hike. The decision to raise prices was made during a meeting of Bajus’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee, chaired by Masudur Rahman, as indicated in a circular issued thereafter.
Under the revised rates, 22 carat gold will be available at Tk1,14,074, 21 carat gold at Tk1,08,883, 18 carat at Tk93,312, and traditional gold at Tk77,799. Despite the surge in gold prices, the rates for silver remain unchanged. Currently, 22 carat silver is priced at Tk2,100, 21 carat at Tk2,006, 18 carat at Tk1,715, and traditional silver at Tk1,283, according to respective categories.
