Amid preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr travel, Mashiur Rahman Ranga, President of the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, issued a firm warning against any transport operators found imposing additional fares for inter-district or long-distance journeys. Such actions, he declared, would prompt immediate suspension of services and legal repercussions.
Ranga conveyed this message during a crucial discussion meeting, convened to ensure the seamless and safe movement of passengers on highways and roads throughout Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.
Led by Additional IGP of Highway Police Md Shahabuddin Khan, the meeting convened at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium, spotlighting strategies to curb traffic congestion during the festive season. Ranga underscored the association’s use of drones for real-time monitoring, reinforcing their commitment to swift action against any violations detected.
Expressing concerns about potential Eid traffic snarls, Ranga stressed proactive travel planning to circumvent congestion and ensure hassle-free journeys for commuters.
He lamented the unauthorized emergence of buses disrupting traffic flow during Eid and vowed decisive action to curb such irregularities, prioritizing a seamless travel experience for all passengers.
Responding to reports of fare hikes during Eid, Ranga assured stringent measures against any operator engaging in overcharging practices. He urged the public to report instances of fare exploitation for immediate redressal.
Addressing queries about illegal parking near the Mohakhali bus terminal, Ranga affirmed support for traffic police in enforcing legal measures against such infractions, underscoring the association’s unwavering commitment to facilitating smooth Eid travel.
As Eid approaches, Ranga reiterated the association’s dedication to ensuring passenger safety and convenience, soliciting cooperation from all stakeholders in upholding order and road safety standards.
