The devastating gas cylinder blast that rocked Gazipur last week has claimed another life, pushing the death toll to 11, as one more injured victim succumbed to injuries.
The latest victim, Tawhid, aged 7, passed away while receiving treatment at the burn institute’s ICU, as confirmed by Associate Professor Hossain Imam of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Imam revealed that Tawhid sustained burns covering 80% of his body, highlighting the severity of the injuries.
Tragically, Tawhid’s sister Taiyeba, aged 4, had previously lost her life to the blast on Saturday, further deepening the sorrow of the incident.
Currently, 17 individuals continue to receive treatment at the burn institute, battling the aftermath of the tragic explosion.
The gas cylinder explosion, which occurred in a shanty town belonging to Shafiqul Islam Shafiq in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur around 6 pm on March 13, left at least 35 people injured, underscoring the devastating impact of the incident on the community.
