Gopalganj’s Kotalipara upazila witnessed a crackdown on diagnostic centres, resulting in fines totaling Tk1.57 lakh imposed on 11 establishments for various offenses.
Conducted by a mobile court on Monday, the raid targeted multiple locations within Kotalipara upazila, prompting swift penalties for violators. Notably, two diagnostic centres opted to shut down and evade authorities upon the mobile court’s arrival.
The fined diagnostic centres and their respective penalties include Padma Diagnostic Centre (Tk5,000), Ratan Diagnostic Centre (Tk30,000), National Diagnostic Centre (Tk25,000), Safe Diagnostic Centre (Tk25,000), New Kotalipara Diagnostic Centre (Tk5,000), Solution Diagnostic Centre (Tk5,000), Digital Medilab (Tk2,000), Kotalipara Modern Diagnostic (Tk5,000), Life Care Diagnostic Centre (Tk15,000), Rangdhanu Diagnostic Centre (Tk40,000), and Maa Diagnostic Centre (Tk20,000).
Dr. Mohammad Zillur Rahman, Gopalganj Civil Surgeon, highlighted the crackdown’s necessity, citing public complaints regarding inadequate healthcare services.
Executive Magistrate Al Yasa Rahman Tapadar, leading the mobile court, confirmed the fines imposed on the errant diagnostic centres, totaling Tk1.57 lakh.
Moreover, Jamuna Diagnostic Centre and New Popular Diagnostic Centre faced closure during the operation, while Muna General Hospital received a warning, and Eva Medicare Hospital signed a bond.
These stringent measures aim to enhance healthcare standards in Gopalganj district, with continued enforcement efforts planned for the future.
