The British Council rolls out the Foundation English Test (FET) for the first time in Bangladesh, offering 5,400 assessments aimed at evaluating entry-level English proficiency. These tests will be conducted across eight locations in collaboration with the Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation project until March 2024.
Tailored to improve individuals’ employment prospects, the FET is designed to provide a simpler and fairer assessment of lower English proficiency levels, catering to candidates requiring basic English skills. Notably, the test is cost-effective and expedites the evaluation process.
The signing ceremony of the FET deal between the British Council and its delivery partners took place at the British Council’s Fuller Road office premises. This initiative aligns with Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority’s endeavor to establish Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centers nationwide, aimed at nurturing tech-skilled talent.
Zunayed Ahmed, Director of Operations at the British Council, expressed optimism about the FET’s impact on recruitment practices, stating, “FET will enable companies, institutions, and employment agencies to enhance their recruitment efficiency by assessing candidates’ English communication skills at the appropriate level. We extend our gratitude to our delivery partners for their seamless coordination in facilitating 5,400 FETs across Bangladesh.”
The event saw the participation of representatives from the British Council, including Sarwat Reza, Director of Business Development, and Tasneen Tabassum Chowdhury, Business Pursuit Manager, alongside Runa Parvez, Assistant Programmer from the ICT Division.
Designated as delivery partners for the FET initiative are dCrowd IT Ltd & JV, Logical Triangle-NRB Jobs- Zayanzara Ltd, Shooting Star Limited, Webpers Limited, ADDIE Soft Ltd, Ezze Technology Limited, CodersTrust Bangladesh, and Digicon Technologies PLC, reflecting a collaborative effort to enhance English proficiency levels and foster employability across Bangladesh.
