A significant breakthrough in counterfeit currency detection unfolded as the Detective Branch (DB) of police apprehended a youth in Bagerhat on Friday, seizing a staggering Tk16 lakh worth of fake notes along with sophisticated equipment and a currency fabrication machine.
The arrested individual, identified as Md Faisal Yunus, aged 30 and hailing from Kachua upazila, was found in possession of the illicit materials.
Recounting the operation, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Swapan Kumar Roy of Bagerhat Detective Branch (DB) disclosed that a meticulously planned raid was conducted on the 6th floor of Alhaj Abdul Gafur Plaza, strategically located in front of Jadu Nath School and College.
“Faisal was apprehended red-handed with the tools required for counterfeiting currency. Investigations reveal that he had been clandestinely operating a counterfeit currency production unit for the past four months,” OC Swapan Kumar Roy elaborated.
Efforts are currently underway to apprehend other members affiliated with the illicit operation, signaling a concerted effort by law enforcement to dismantle the criminal network.
