In a bid to stabilize market prices and ensure affordability for consumers, the Agricultural Marketing Department has enacted price regulations on 29 crucial agricultural products, encompassing a diverse range from onion and broiler chicken to mutton, beef, and eggplant, both at wholesale and retail levels.
This regulatory move, detailed in a notification signed by Agricultural Marketing Department Director General Masud Karim, aims to mitigate price fluctuations and foster economic stability.
Under the newly established price structure, consumers can expect beef to be retailed at Tk664.39 per kg and mutton at Tk1,003.56 per kg, among other commodities.
Furthermore, the price per kg for green gram stands at Tk165.41, black gram at Tk166.50, and chickpeas (imported) at Tk98.30. Meanwhile, broiler chicken has been pegged at Tk175.30 per kg, sonali chicken at Tk262, and eggs at Tk10.49 each, ensuring transparency and uniformity in pricing across various agricultural sectors.
Local onions, garlic, and other staple vegetables also feature in the price adjustment, aiming to alleviate financial burdens on consumers while maintaining fair returns for farmers.
The directive underscores the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for both producers and consumers, urging compliance with the set prices until further notice.
This initiative marks a significant stride towards achieving equilibrium in the agricultural market, thereby enhancing food security and bolstering economic resilience amidst prevailing challenges.
