In a proactive move, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md Abdur Rahman has announced the government’s decision to sell beef, mutton, chicken, and eggs at reduced prices across 30 locations in Dhaka, starting from March 10.
The decision aims to tackle the rising prices of essential protein sources, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming month of Ramadan. Minister Abdur Rahman shared this initiative during a session at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on the second day of the Deputy Commissioners’ Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
“We will kickstart the sale of these vital items at discounted rates from March 10, keeping in mind the approaching month of Ramadan,” stated the minister.
As per the minister’s details, beef will be available at Tk600 per kilogram, mutton at Tk900 per kilogram, dressed broiler chicken at Tk280 per kilogram, and each egg will be priced at Tk10.
Abdul Rahman emphasized that these products will be accessible from open trucks stationed at designated spots across Dhaka. The discounted sale will remain ongoing until the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, ensuring a sustained availability of affordable meat options for the residents of Dhaka.
