Salman F Rahman, the Private Industries and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister, reinforced the government’s commitment to achieve a 30% adoption rate of electric vehicles (EVs) in Bangladesh by 2030. This initiative aligns with the Smart Bangladesh vision set to materialize by 2041.
During the inauguration of BYD’s first showroom in Bangladesh, Rahman expressed the importance of making EVs readily available in the country, encouraging smart choices among consumers. The showroom opening marks a significant step towards the government’s vision of phasing out traditional fossil fuel-powered cars to address carbon emissions.
Global EV giant BYD officially launched its showroom in Bangladesh, facilitating access for environmentally conscious individuals to experience and contribute to sustainable living.
The adoption of electric vehicles in Bangladesh is still in its early stages due to the limited availability of EVs in the domestic market. The showroom opening by CG Runner BD Ltd, introducing BYD to the country, is expected to accelerate the adoption of EVs.
Situated in the Tejgaon industrial area in Dhaka (340, Haque Centre, Shahid Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani), the showroom covers 8,400 square feet and can showcase up to five cars simultaneously. Initially, BYD’s flagship model, the BYD SEAL (sedan), with Premium and Performance variants, will be available for purchase. The models boast advanced technologies such as e-platform 3.0, CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology, Blade Battery, and iTAC (intelligent Torture Adaptation Control).
Prospective customers can experience these cutting-edge vehicles in the showroom, which also features two charging stations (AC and DC) for the convenience of BYD car owners.
CG Runner BD Ltd, the driving force behind BYD’s presence in Bangladesh, plans to open additional showrooms and service centers in the near future, aiming to expedite the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
