In a concerning incident on Friday, a fire erupted at the cold storage facility of an under-construction building in Chittagong. The blaze unfolded at Taaza Multipurpose Cold Storage Limited on Sayed Shah Road, located under Bakalia police station in Chittagong city around 11 am.
As of now, seven units from three different fire service stations are diligently working to bring the situation under control.
Chittagong Divisional Fire Service Station Assistant Director, Abdul Malek, confirmed that there have been no reported casualties thus far.
Nazrul Islam, a local resident, provided insights into the incident, revealing that the cold storage was being constructed within a building that is still under development. The construction involves the use of wood and cockpits. Alarmingly, around 10-12 residents residing in the neighboring building have fallen ill due to smoke inhalation.
