Proton’s Chief Executive Officer, Li Chunrong, touched down in Dhaka yesterday to spearhead the launch event of the highly-anticipated Proton X90, a groundbreaking mid-sized sports utility vehicle.
Rancon Cars Ltd, a prominent entity under the Rancon Group, is gearing up to present two variants of the Proton X90 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Dhaka today, as detailed in an official press release.
This state-of-the-art vehicle boasts a cutting-edge 48-volt mild-hybrid system, featuring a 1500cc turbocharged engine co-developed in collaboration with Volvo, the renowned Swedish automaker.
“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Li Chunrong to Bangladesh,” expressed Rancon, adding, “Dr. Li’s presence is a testament to the momentous occasion as we prepare to unveil the latest marvel in automotive innovation—the Proton X90.”
Rancon emphasized that this launch signifies a new era for the Proton brand in the Bangladeshi market, promising an automotive experience that blends technology and performance seamlessly.
Li Chunrong, an accomplished professional with a diverse educational background, earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical automation from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. His journey includes a master’s degree in business administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a PhD in management engineering.
With a career spanning over three decades, Chunrong commenced his professional journey with Dongfeng Motor Corporation in 1987, a Chinese state-owned automotive giant. Over the years, he ascended the ranks and played pivotal roles in notable subsidiaries such as Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors Co Ltd and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company.
The press release highlighted Chunrong’s instrumental role in building the company from scratch, contributing significantly to product development, design, and brand establishment.
In 2017, Li Chunrong took the helm as the CEO of Proton, bringing his wealth of experience to lead the company into a new era of automotive excellence.
