In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the government has officially adjusted office hours for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions. Effective from Sunday to Thursday, the new office timing will be from 9am to 3:30pm, with a brief 15-minute break from 1:15 to 1:30pm specifically designated for Zuhr prayers.
The decision, finalized during the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, aims to accommodate the observance of Ramadan traditions while ensuring smooth administrative operations.
Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, briefing reporters at the secretariat, highlighted the specifics of the revised office timing. He emphasized the importance of the 15-minute break dedicated to Zuhr prayers, aligning with the religious practices of the holy month.
It’s noteworthy that certain entities, such as banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, post services, railway operations, hospitals, state-run mills and factories, and other emergency service providers, will have the flexibility to set their own office hours based on their respective laws and public interest.
Additionally, the Supreme Court will independently determine the office timing for all courts under its jurisdiction, further ensuring tailored arrangements aligned with their specific operational needs.
The holy month of Ramadan is anticipated to commence on March 12, contingent upon the sighting of the moon, and the newly established office hours will facilitate a harmonious balance between work commitments and religious observances during this significant period.
