Health and Family Welfare Minister Samanta Lal Sen has declared the implementation of a “zero tolerance policy” in cases where a child’s death is attributed to the negligence of hospital authorities and doctors. The minister further disclosed that supervisory raids on hospitals throughout the country will kick off on February 27.
This announcement was made during a press briefing at the health ministry’s conference room on Sunday noon.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Minister Samanta Lal Sen emphasized his unwavering commitment to a zero tolerance policy against illegal hospitals and clinics. He underscored the importance of ensuring that only qualified individuals are permitted to work in these healthcare facilities.
During the press briefing, the minister highlighted the collective responsibility required to curb illegal clinics, stating, “Everyone will have a role to play here. Parliamentarians also have to work here. If everyone can carry out the operation as a whole, then it is possible.” He stressed the need for collaborative efforts to effectively address the issue.
In response to the closure of 1,027 illegal clinics, Minister Samanta Lal Sen emphasized the significance of monitoring these institutions to ensure compliance with regulations and verify whether activities continue inside after closure.

Health Service Division Secretary Md Jahangir Alam addressed the challenges in implementing mobile courts in districts and upazilas, emphasizing the need for police and magistrate support.
While expressing the government’s support for private medical businesses, Minister Samanta Lal Sen underscored the importance of maintaining quality, equipment, and necessary medical facilities. The objective is to strengthen private healthcare services while ensuring accountability and adherence to standards.
