In a significant development, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) made a major move by apprehending five high-ranking officials, including two directors, of Transcom Group in Gulshan, Dhaka, on Thursday.
The arrested individuals are Transcom Group Legal Advisor Fakhruzzaman Bhuiyan, Director (Corporate Finance) Kamrul Hasan, Director (Corporate Finance) Abdullah Al Mamun, Manager Abu Yousuf Mohammad Siddique, and Assistant Company Secretary Mohammad Mosaddek.
The trigger for these arrests was a case filed by Shahzreh Huq, daughter of the late Latifur Rahman, the founder of Transcom Group. The case, filed at the Gulshan police station, accuses the arrested officials of various financial irregularities, including embezzlement of Tk100 crore, illegal property acquisition, and unauthorized transfer of company shares.
Dhaka North PBI Special Superintendent of Police Jahangir Alam confirmed the arrests and mentioned that additional details regarding the allegations and charges would be disclosed in due course.
