In a groundbreaking medical achievement, surgeons at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have successfully separated conjoined twins Nava and Nova after an intense 13-hour surgery conducted on Tuesday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Professor Dr. Samanta Lal Sen revealed at a press conference held at BSMMU that the operation was a success, emphasizing that the same procedure would cost around Tk1 crore if performed in India or other countries.
During the announcement, Professor Dr. Sen also shared that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina generously covered the expenses for the twins’ operation, reflecting the government’s commitment to advancing healthcare in Bangladesh.
Highlighting Bangladesh’s significant progress in the health sector, the health minister acknowledged the nation’s physicians for accomplishing rare and complex surgeries, marking a milestone in medical expertise.
