In a decisive move, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh reaffirmed his commitment to preventing illegal land occupation in the city, emphasizing that not even an inch of the city’s land will be allowed to be taken unlawfully.
Mayor Taposh made this declaration during a key handover ceremony for kitchen market shops situated at Motijheel Middle Circular Road on Monday. These shops, originally allotted in 1997 during Mayor Mohammad Hanif’s tenure, had faced delays in reaching the rightful allottees for an extended period.
Addressing the issue, Mayor Taposh stated, “For a long time, the actual allottees did not get those shops. But no one will be able to occupy even one inch of the city corporation’s land illegally. So today (Monday), those shops are being returned to the real allottees.”
Expressing optimism about overcoming challenges in the allocation process, Taposh added, “Those who are the real allottees, the recipients will conduct their business properly there. They are our partners. So, no adversity can hinder us from giving back their allocation. We will overcome all adversities, Insha Allah.”
In a symbolic act of rectifying past delays, Mayor Taposh handed over keys to 57 allottees during the ceremony, marking a significant step towards ensuring the rightful ownership of land for the designated businesses in Motijheel Kitchen Market.
