In a move aimed at meeting passenger demand, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director, MAN Siddique, announced that the metro rail will now run every eight minutes during peak hours, starting this Saturday. This significant reduction from the previous ten-minute interval is expected to enhance the efficiency and convenience of metro rail travel for commuters.
Siddique shared this update during a press conference held on Thursday, emphasizing the company’s commitment to addressing the needs of the passengers. The new schedule adjustment will be in effect during peak hours, providing a quicker and more frequent metro rail service to accommodate the surge in demand.
However, it’s worth noting that on Thursday morning, train services experienced a temporary disruption due to a fault in the “signal system.” Despite this issue, the metro rail movement was not suspended, and efforts were promptly made to resolve the technical glitch.
Currently, the metro rail operates every 10 minutes from 7:10 am to 11:30 am and every 12 minutes from 11:31 am to 4:00 pm. The upcoming change is poised to significantly improve the overall travel experience for metro rail users during peak hours, contributing to the efficiency and reliability of Dhaka’s public transportation system. Stay tuned for a more seamless and time-efficient commute starting this Saturday.
