Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina emphasized the critical need to explore new markets for Bangladesh’s export items during a meeting with a delegation from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Sunday.
In her address, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of both expanding and diversifying the markets for the country’s export products to stimulate economic growth. She urged businesses to prioritize the quality of their products to enhance competitiveness in the global market.
KM Shakhawat Moon, the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary, informed reporters that the BGMEA delegation provided insights into business, trade, exports, and the prevailing market conditions. During the discussion, the Prime Minister attentively listened to the delegation’s concerns, which included challenges arising from various factors such as the global situation.
Moon further stated that Sheikh Hasina assured the delegation of addressing the identified issues, showcasing her commitment to fostering a conducive environment for the growth of Bangladesh’s export sector.
The BGMEA delegation comprised President Faruque Hassan, former BGMEA President and former Commerce Minister Tipu Munsi, along with former presidents Abdus Salam Murshedy, Md Shafiul Islam, and Md Siddiqur Rahman. The meeting focused on collaborative efforts to overcome challenges and enhance the country’s position in the international trade landscape.
