The late actor’s body will be placed at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday for the public to pay their last respects. Following the Asr prayers, Ahmed Rubel will be interred in the Gazipur graveyard, as confirmed by Actors Equity Bangladesh President Ahsan Habib Nasim.
Rubel, accompanied by Nurul Alam Atique, was on his way to the Star Cineplex in Bashundhara City Shopping Complex for the premiere when he suddenly fell ill and collapsed while entering the elevator. Tragically, he suffered a fatal heart attack.
Immediate measures were taken, and he was rushed to Square Hospital, where doctors declared him deceased due to a heart attack. The initial cause of death was attributed to the heart ailment.
Simultaneously, the team of “Peyarar Subash” conducted an impromptu press meet, attended by Jaya Ahsan, Tariq Anam Khan, Chorki CEO Redoan Rony, Alpha-i Studios Managing Director Shahriar Shakil, and cultural personality Nasiruddin Yousuff. Despite the shocking news, the premiere continued.
Expressing her disbelief and deep shock, Jaya Ahsan, Rubel’s co-star, stated, “Rubel Bhai, my co-star in the film, was supposed to be here to talk about our film; instead, we are now talking about his demise. He was a gifted actor, and he will live through all of his majestic works.”
Nasiruddin Yousuff, founder of Dhaka Theatre, reminisced about Rubel’s 25-year association, saying, “He was an excellent performer who left us too soon but while still at work—the type of demise to which we, the performers, aspire.”
Rubel’s illustrious career spanned across theatre, silver screen, small screen, and OTT projects. Starting with Dhaka Theatre, his breakthrough came with Ekushey Television’s popular series Pret. His filmography includes notable works like Chandrokotha, Bachelor, Shyamol Chhaya, Guerrilla, Jonakir Aalo, Laal Moroger Jhuti, and the recently premiered “Peyarar Subas.”
