Bangladesh experiences a setback in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2023, sliding two positions in the global ranking. According to Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), the country now holds the 149th position in the CPI 2023, compared to its previous standing at 147th.
The latest index reveals that Bangladesh secured the 10th position from the bottom, marking a decline from the previous index’s 12th spot. TIB reported a drop in Bangladesh’s CPI score from 26 to 24 out of 100 in the 2023 report.
During a press conference, TIB Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman expressed disappointment, stating, “Our performance is very frustrating.”
As the nation grapples with these findings, there is an increased emphasis on addressing corruption issues to improve transparency and accountability. TIB remains committed to shedding light on corruption challenges and advocating for systemic changes to strengthen Bangladesh’s standing in future CPI assessments.
