In a devastating incident on the Nagarbari-Bogura highway in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj, a couple tragically lost their lives when a truck collided with their auto-rickshaw last night. The victims, identified as 60-year-old Ansar Talukder and his 50-year-old wife Farida Khatun from Bilkolmi village, met with the fatal accident as they were returning home.
Md Khairul Bashar, the officer-in-charge of Shahjadpur Police Station, reported that a Nagarbari-bound truck struck the three-wheeler at Baghabari around 8:00 pm, resulting in the immediate demise of the couple. The driver of the auto-rickshaw suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Shahjadpur Upazila Health Complex for medical attention.
Despite police seizing the truck involved in the accident, the driver managed to flee the scene, as confirmed by the OC. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for increased vigilance to prevent such accidents on the highways.
