A devastating helicopter crash during a heli-skiing expedition in Canada resulted in the tragic loss of three lives, according to the tour operator, Northern Escape Heli Skiing.
The incident occurred near the town of Terrace in British Columbia, situated about 70 miles east of the Alaska border. British Columbia Emergency Health Services responded to the helicopter crash, which involved multiple patients, at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
At the crash site, paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to four patients who were subsequently rushed to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace in critical condition. The tour operator, Northern Escape Heli Skiing, expressed uncertainty regarding whether any of the hospitalized individuals were among those reported as fatalities.
John Forrest, president of Northern Escape Heli Skiing, conveyed the deep sorrow and grief felt by the company, stating, “It is impossible to put into words the profound grief that we feel and the sorrow that our guests and our staff share.” He expressed gratitude to the emergency responders who promptly sprang into action following the tragic accident.
