In an unexpected incident, an individual deliberately tossed a satellite TV cable onto the power line of the metro rail system, leading to a brief disruption in service around noon yesterday. MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd, informed The Daily Star that the cable was thrown on the electric line between Farmgate and Shahbagh stations, and the police are actively searching for the culprit.
The consequence of this act was a 15-minute interruption in metro rail services, starting approximately at 12:10 pm, as confirmed by metro rail officials. Quick action was taken by the staff to remove the satellite TV cable from the power line, allowing the resumption of services, as stated by Siddique.
Following the suspension of service, numerous passengers were observed waiting in crowds at various stations. To manage the situation, certain trains were instructed to slow down, while others were temporarily halted on the line. Authorities are working to ensure the safety and security of the metro rail system in the wake of this disruptive incident.
