Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Takes Action to Resolve Conflict between Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad Groups.
In a crucial move to alleviate tensions surrounding Bishwa Ijtema, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal announced on Monday that concerted efforts are underway to dissolve the ongoing dispute between the factions led by Maulana Zubair and Maulana Saad.
The minister urged the supporters of Indian preacher Maulana Saad Kandhalvi to relinquish ground authority to the followers of Maulana Zubair in the morning, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation. Speaking at a meeting near the Bishwa Ijtema ground, Minister Kamal stated, “We have successfully completed the preparation for Bishwa Ijtema. Now, we do not want any conflict between the two groups. I urge both groups to work together and set an example for people to collaborate.”
The meeting, held on Monday afternoon, was attended by Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Zahid Ahsan Russel MP, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
Religious Affairs Minister Faridul Haque Khan downplayed the significance of the conflict between the two groups, urging a focus on learning from past mistakes. Minister AKM Mozammel Haque proposed using the Bogra Bypass 300-feet road for transport movement to alleviate the suffering of Muslims attending Ijtema.
Zahid Ahsan Russel MP assured that water supply has been secured for Bishwa Ijtema, while IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun highlighted various initiatives undertaken to ensure the success of the event.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman announced plans to enhance security at the Ijtema ground, with the installation of 200 CCTV cameras.
The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema is scheduled from February 2 to 4, with the followers of Maulana Jubayer participating. The second phase, from February 9 to February 11, 2024, will see the involvement of supporters of Indian preacher Maulana Saad Kandhalvi.
