Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury Announces Collaborative Effort with British Government for Botanical Garden Enhancement.
In a significant development, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury revealed on Monday the government’s commitment to collaborate with the British government to elevate the National Botanical Garden. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation led by British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke at the Secretariat in Dhaka, he outlined plans to make the botanical garden more children-friendly while undertaking joint efforts with the British government for the conservation of vegetation and waterbodies.
“We are eager to strengthen cooperation with the British government in implementing the National Adaptation Plan and Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan to address environmental and climate change challenges,” stated the environment minister.
High Commissioner Sarah Cooke expressed the British government’s dedication to working hand-in-hand with Bangladesh to safeguard the environment, combat climate change, and ensure sustainable development.
The discussions centered around enhancing bilateral cooperation in various crucial areas, including environmental pollution control, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, innovation and research, renewable energy, technology transfer, climate partnership, capacity building, waste management, sustainable development, environment and health, and the resettlement of climate migrants. This collaborative effort signifies a step forward in addressing pressing environmental issues and fostering sustainable solutions for the benefit of both nations.
