Tragedy struck in Ishwardi, Pabna, as a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus resulted in two fatalities on Saturday. The incident occurred around 8:30 am in the Mirkamari Purbapara area of Ishwardi Dashuria, along the Kushtia-Natore highway.
The victims have been identified as Md Nasim, 45, hailing from Sheikhpara in Ishwardi upazila, and Amit Kundu, 40, a resident of Radhanagar in Pabna city.
Reports indicate that at least 10 individuals sustained injuries in the collision, with three of them in critical condition. The identities of the injured are yet to be disclosed.
According to Ashish Kumar Sanal, Officer-in-Charge of Pabna Pakshi Highway Police Station, the tragic incident involved a passenger microbus traveling from Pabna to Kushtia, colliding with a passenger bus named SN Paribahan heading in the opposite direction. The injured were promptly transported to Pabna General Hospital, where two individuals were pronounced dead by medical professionals.
The driver and assistant of the bus fled the scene, while the damaged vehicles were seized by the police and are currently in custody. Legal actions are being pursued in connection with the accident.
