In a devastating incident, a poultry farm in Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong has fallen victim to a raging fire, resulting in the tragic loss of 1,200 chickens.
The fire erupted at Kamal Hossain’s poultry farm located in ward No 2 of the East Kalurghat area early Friday morning. Despite the swift response from the Boalkhali fire service upon receiving the distress call, the entire farm had already been reduced to ashes.
Kamal Hossain, the owner of the poultry farm, expressed the extent of his heartbreak, stating, “My poultry farm was engulfed in flames around 4 am. With 1,200 chickens on the premises, everything has been reduced to ashes. I have incurred a substantial loss amounting to about Tk10 lakh.”
Md Saidur Rahman, the acting station in charge of the fire service unit, attributed the fire’s origin to a short circuit. The tragic incident underscores the vulnerability of poultry farms to unforeseen disasters and highlights the need for enhanced safety measures within such facilities.
As investigations continue into the specific details of the short circuit, the poultry farming community and local authorities are urged to prioritize safety protocols to prevent similar incidents and protect valuable livestock.
The loss of the poultry farm serves as a somber reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in agricultural enterprises, emphasizing the need for continuous vigilance and preparedness to avert such catastrophic events.
