In a recent operation, members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard East apprehended three individuals near Shah Amanat International Airport in the Patenga area of the city. Lieutenant Commander Khandakar Munif Toki, the Coast Guard’s Media Officer, confirmed the incident through a press release.
According to Toki, acting on a tip-off, a Coast Guard team, led by Lieutenant Commander HM Tanjimul Islam Majumdar, intercepted a microbus on the Airport-Patenga Road. Upon searching the vehicle, the Coast Guard discovered 1,000 grams of various gold ornaments, a laptop, 19 mobile phones, and 16 cartons of foreign cigarettes in the possession of the three detainees.
The press release stated that the gold items were suspected to have been smuggled through the airport.
