Joyce Randolph, beloved for her portrayal of Trixie Norton in the classic ’50s sitcom “The Honeymooners,” has peacefully passed away at the age of 99 in her Manhattan home, as confirmed by Fox News Digital. The last surviving member of the show’s iconic cast, Randolph’s death follows that of co-stars Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, and Audrey Meadows.
“The Honeymooners,” a short-lived sitcom that originally began as a comedy sketch on “The Jackie Gleason Show,” depicted the humorous lives of two New York City couples, including Randolph’s character, Trixie Norton. The show spanned just one season with 39 episodes but has since become a cultural classic.
Randolph’s son, Randy Charles, shared that his mother had been in home-hospice for several months before peacefully passing in her sleep. The actress, known for her versatility on live television, humorously referred to herself as the ‘most murdered girl’ on television, often playing roles in murder mystery scenarios.
Before her iconic role, Randolph was involved in numerous live television projects, much of which is lost to time. Charles fondly remembers his late mother as not only a wonderful actress but also a loving wife and mother. Joyce Randolph married Richard Lincoln Charles just a day after “The Honeymooners” premiered in 1955, and they remained married until his passing in 1997.
In honor of Joyce Randolph, the family has requested donations to be made to the Entertainment Community Fund, formerly known as The Actor’s Fund. A private remembrance service will be held for the late actress at a future date.
Randolph’s legacy lives on as a cherished member of television history, and her contribution to the iconic “The Honeymooners” continues to be celebrated by fans worldwide.
