In a groundbreaking collaboration, Amateur Experimental Rocketry Dhaka (AERD) joined forces with the Dr Anwarul Abedin Institute of Innovation (D2A2I) and the American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB) to successfully launch their inaugural weather balloon on Friday. The project, initiated at 10:30 am on the AIUB Campus, saw the balloon landing smoothly in Comilla, just 120 kilometers from the launch site, with all payload and equipment intact. Outfitted with instruments measuring temperature, humidity, and wind speed at various altitudes, the weather balloon’s data will contribute significantly to weather prediction, climate studies, and rocket trajectory predictions. This successful venture sets the stage for cost-effective, frequent weather balloon launches, providing valuable insights for aerospace exploration in Bangladesh. Project leader Chen Szu Heng and founding member Shahzaib Abedin express their anticipation for advancing aerospace exploration in Bangladesh through continued collaboration with AIUB, signaling a trajectory toward more significant and advanced projects by the AERD team.
